BUSH PIG HUNTING TIPS
THE HORMONE HUNTING METHOD

All hunters around the world dream of the day when they finally manage to successfully hunt there trophy bush pig. This dream will only be achieved by a handful of bush pig hunters in there life time. The hormone method will assist all trophy hunters with accomplishing their dream. Please be advised that this method is considered as baiting because the hormone lures the targeted trophy animal to a certain area. Therefore please insure that the right procedure is followed with nature conservation in your area with obtaining the necessary permits for the trophy bush pig hunt. With this method a previously hunted bush pig boar will be used. This method can be used for all animals that are territorial in nature. All that is needed is to remove the genitalia from a previously hunted boar or other male of the certain targeted species. The genitalia or testes of the bush pig contains hormones which one thereof is testosterone. The genitalia is then placed at the desired location where the hunter anticipate the existence of a trophy bush pig or trophy of that certain targeted species. After the genitalia is placed the dominant targeted hog will smell the scent and interpret it as an invader on its territory. Immediately after the scent is picked up the trophy hog will move to where the hormones are placed. Therefore place the genitalia at your hide or tree stand preferably in a tree to allow the wind to carry the scent further and the sun from drying the bush pig testes out. The targeted trophy hog will now place its scent at the area where this previously hunted boar's hormone is placed. All that need to be done is to continue this warthog hunting hormone method until your trophy hog smell the scent and moves in to mark his territory.

BUSH PIG HUNTING TIPS
It is no secret that hunting a bush pig in South Africa is extremely challenging. As a successful warthog hunter I could be of assistance. Here are 2 Hunting tips I used with great results. I applied and modified these hunting tips in order to fit with the area and roaming patterns of the warthog and bush pig that I hunt.
I successfully managed to hunt a warthog and a bush pig in a single hunting session by applying and executing these to hunting tips. I used no artificial light and no hunting vehicle. I only applied these to tips and monitored the warthog and the bush pigs movement. The bush pig was hunted first by ambush whereafter the warthog Boar was hunted by flushing out on foot.

AFRICAN BUSH PIG HUNTING IN GAUTENG SOUTH AFRICA
BUSH PIG HUNTING TIPS
THE BAITING METHOD
In order to successfully hunt a bush pig, or as some bush pig hunters like to call it: The poor man's leopard, understanding the baiting method is very important. This method isn't used in places where the bush pig are considered vermin or damage causing animals. A method used with more success in areas where bush pig are considered vermin or damage causing animals involves flushing the bush pig up or out to an area where the bush pig hunter will be able to successfully shoot the bush pig. In the parts of South-Africa where the bush pig aren't considered vermin or damage causing animals the bush pig are hunted with a method called 'baiting'. In these parts bush pig numbers are smaller and the hunting areas include more live-stock farms as apposed to crop-farms. This is also why the bush pig is referred to as the poor mans leopard. It is because leopard hunting also involve the baiting of the leopard into an area where an attempt could be made at shooting it. The baiting method for bush pig used involves a mixture made that produces a scent to attract the bush pig. The most common question asked when it comes to bush pig hunting is: How do I make this mixture? It is really simple to make the mixture and the following steps can be taken to increase your chance at baiting a bush pig. Unlike baking a cake the amount of the ingredients can vary and the mixture can still be used, the most important think is that the mixture must have a strong scent in order for the bush pig to smell it and to attract the bush pig. Bush pig are known to travel up to five kilometers at night, therefore the scent needs to be strong enough for the bush pig to smell it at this distance.
-
Use a 20 liter container which preferably has a lid.
-
Insert 10 kg whole mealy pips into the container.
-
Add 10 liter of water.
-
Add 1 kilogram of brown sugar.
-
Add 5 small packets of instant yeast
-
Finally add 5 liter of beer, I prefer a beer brewed in South-Africa locally called leopard.
Finally leave the mixture in the sun for 14 days or until you want to vomit when you smell it. Now place your trail-cam and start baiting your trophy bush pig.
